A learner-centered community focuses on the development of empathy that empowers learners to be active members in the learning community. In this community, they develop trust relationship between themselves and co-construct behavioral agreements based on shared values and shared goals.

To build such a community requires teachers' conscious effort in visiting what they believe the future holds for the learners, and in monitoring and modifying their speech and actions. This link below takes you to a page that collects resources regarding how a such a community will fundamentally change our children, our education system and our society. It also offers concrete practice tips of how teachers can use language to engage learners in building such a community.
